Obituary of Lillian J. Auspelmyer

Amsterdam- Lillian “Lil” J. (Willoughby) Auspelmyer, 66, of Town of Florida, passed away at home on Saturday, February 4, 2023, with her husband and two sons by her side. Born in Schenectady, NY on November 2, 1956, she was the daughter of Davis Willoughby and Phyllis Jacobs.

Lillian married her first and only love, Gary F. Auspelmyer on June 28, 1975, and with this love, they had two sons, Joshua (Lisa) Auspelmyer and Justin (Holli) Auspelmyer both of Town of Glen.

Lillian was known for her sewing, decorating and crafting; her strength and tenacity; and for always being willing to listen to those who needed to talk.  As decorating became more difficult for her to do on her own, she passed those tasks to her husband, of course, under her direct supervision.  Gary and Lillian spent countless hours together, making their home just perfect, continuously updating her color palette, accessorizing with new décor and meticulously decorating inside and out. Gary loved Lillian with his whole heart and would do everything and anything to make her proud.  The love Gary and Lillian shared is profound and felt by all who knew them especially when Gary courted Lillian singing “Can’t Help Falling in Love."

Most recently her greatest joy was the birth of each of her grandchildren, Hunter, Olivia, Hudson and Kyla. Lillian truly lived each day for them and showed them so much love.  She invested all her energy in ensuring they knew just how special they are, sharing many meals together, watching cartoons, playing ball, and racing (kids on their bikes and Lillian on her electric scooter).  Lillian spent countless hours snuggling her grandchildren and sharing a hug and “I love you” at each and every opportunity.

Lillian, Lil, Mom, Grandma, Mama, Aunt Lil, Sweetheart, Friend will be lovingly remembered by those she leaves behind.  Lillian was predeceased by her father, Davis and is survived by her husband, Gary; sons, Joshua and Justin; mother, Phyllis; brothers, Davis, John, Kenny and Robbie; sisters, Audrey, June, and Tracey; and many special nephews and nieces.

In celebration of Lillian’s life, a gathering of friends and family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a children’s charity of your choosing; St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105; Child Mind Institute, Attn: Development Office, 445 Park Ave, 3rd Floor, New York, NY, 10022; March of Dimes, 1550 Crystal Drive, Suite 1300, Arlington, VA, 22202; Ronald McDonald House of the Capital Region, 139 S.
