Clair, Debbie, John, Ryan, Jacob, Sharon and Jim. My heart goes out to all of you. Dave was such a personable man with a big, generous heart. Bob and I stayed at the Lake with Clair and Dave. Dave and I were the first ones up so we took the kayaks out. It was quiet, calm and beautiful. We had a nice conversation and I so appreciated his company. I will treasure that special time with him. You are in my thoughts and I will send you strength to get through this, although, I know you will always miss him. Sending my love to all of you. Clair, especially. ❤️

Clair, Sharon, Debbie, Ryan, Jacob, James and John: Having only been a small part of David’s life with Clair here in Florida, I am truly honored and humbled to have known him. David’s beaming smile and presence always lit up a room and was simply welcoming. In reading his memorial, as well as the tributes written by others, I am in awe of his successful business accomplishments, but somehow those successes likely seem pale considering his greatest achievement of family. How amazingly fortunate each of you are to have gained a lifetime of experiences, lessons, and now memories of him. François Mauriac said, “No love, no friendship, can cross the path of our destiny without leaving some mark on it forever.” In the days ahead, I know you will find comfort in those lessons that were blessed to you. Thank you for sharing a small part of David’s life with me and please know that he will be truly missed. Take care and prayers always. ---Dru

I am so sorry for your loss of David. He was a true gentleman. He was in my class at Wilbur H. Lynch High School and we graduated in 1959. I had the pleasure of working with him on the 50th Reunion for the class of "59". He helped us with several more gatherings. We will all miss him. Rest my friend in peace. Barbara White

I read this news today and was terribly sorry to hear. David and I grew up on market hill in Amsterdam. We collaborated on homework in math, chemistry and physics during school. He was accepted at University Of Rochester and we went separate ways then although we met in town whenever we crossed paths. I was very pleased to work with him again on our class of 59 reunion committee. He was a good friend with a kind work and always something interesting to say. I do miss him.

Clair, Debbie and Sharon please accept my heartfelt and sincere condolences. I have so many fond memories of David (you, too, Clair). One of the most meaningful to me, and my family, was when David bought my sons, Jason and Joey, suits, ties and shoes so they'd have proper clothes to wear at my mom's funeral (she also died very suddenly). The second memory was when David was just starting his freshman year at the University of Rochester. He would come to our house once a week for homecooked meals. And for my 7th birthday he took me to see "Love Me Tender" which was my idol's first movie & he gave me an autographed photo of Elvis Presley. I have no idea where he got it but I loved it! Sadly, it was lost in a fire when I was 13. Still,I will hold that memory in my heart forever. I recall many trips to Amsterdarn (as my father insisted we call it since 'dam' was considered inappropriate for me and my brother). And I remember one time, after an ice storm, our car couldn't make it up the steep hill to Uncle Hy and Aunt Vera's home so we left the car parked at the bottom and David and my Uncle helped us all scale the incline so we could spend the weekend with them.
There's an old Hebrew proverb that states: "Say not in grief 'he is no more' but live in thankfulness that he was." May all of you value happier times and treasure precious memories of David - your husband, father, grandfather, friend, etc.. When sorrows overcome us it hides all hope and happiness from sight. But remember where there are shadows there must also be light.
With sympathy,
Doreen (Gordon) Ferraro

I am so sorry to hear this news. Although we had lost touch, my early years with all of you are very special. Visiting Amsterdam when I was little with my father are thoughts that still bring a big smile. You are all in our thoughts. Alan, Christie, and Asher Gordon
