Obituary of Patricia A. Allen
Patricia Ann Allen, 75, life-long resident of Amsterdam, New York, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2023 at St. Mary's Hospital. Patty was born on March 16, 1947 to the late Michael and Philomina (DiScenza) Gizzo. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Institute, and the Mildred Elley Secretarial School.
Patty began working at the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany in 1965 as a Typist. Over the course of 37 years, she worked her way up the ranks to Senior Tax Processing Manager, from which she retired in 2002.
On November 8, 1969, Patty was united in marriage to Kenneth Allen. They have spent the past 53 wonderful years together, through which they have shared immense love, laughter, and lots of miles traveled. The pair had travelled to Florida every February for the past 20 years, and also enjoyed trips to casinos whenever they had the chance. In the past three years Patty and Ken built a new home, a process that Patty enjoyed, as she loved working on home and interior design. She took charge in designing much of the house, and selected each detail with great care.
Patty was a faithful friend to many, an incredibly devoted wife and mother, and was known for her great sense of humor. She loved to spend time with her family, and always made sure to keep everyone close and connected with one another. This involved spending a lot of time on the phone, lending an ear to family members and friends who needed someone to listen, and she never passed judgement. When she wasn’t busy, Patty enjoyed listening to music, especially Barbara Streisand.
Patty’s loving family includes her husband, Kenneth Allen; her daughter, Bethany Kendra (fiancé, Huffy Yuret) Allen; her sister, Lucille (Irving) Sparrow; her brother-in-law, Richard (Kathi) Allen; her beloved grand-pups; her nieces, Marlena (Jeff) Turner and Michele (Sean) Messick; her nephew, DJ (Roshan Perera) Gallup; one great niece; three great nephews; as well as many cousins, and treasured friends.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 11:00AM until Noon at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010, with a funeral service immediately following with The Very Rev.
