Obituary of Donna Horning
Mrs. Donna M. Horning, age 74, of Gloversville, New York died on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Valley Health Services in Herkimer, New York.
She was born on November 29, 1948 in Gouverneur, New York, the daughter of Blanche and John Stevens. She attended Mayfield CSD. She enjoyed traveling the country with her beloved husband. She frequently visited Turning Stone Casino to play bingo with her husband, as well as her brother and sister in law, Lee and Terri Horning.
Donna’s greatest joy in life was her family.
Every holiday her house was filled with family, friends, love, and laughter. She loved cooking and baking. Every Halloween she passed out homemade caramel popcorn balls to trick or treaters.
She loved watching her sons play baseball and keeping score for them. Most summers were spent at Caroga Lake and Indian Lake with her husband and children, and eventually her grandchildren too.
Most weekends her grandchildren stayed at her house. Often, all eight kids would stay at once. Time spent with her grandchildren was filled with big breakfasts, board games, crafting, nintendo games, and movies.
Donna adored her great grandchildren. As babies, she was overjoyed to simply hold, sing to, and rock them to sleep. As they grew, she loved to play with them and never minded the messes they’d make around her house.
Her love and light has spread through generations and will continue to do so through her memory.
Donna leaves behind her beloved husband of 49 years, John Horning; three children, Rich, Ron, and Jay; eight grandchildren, Cassie, Ashley, Austin, Alex, Sam, Dana, Brandi, and Briana; seven great grandchildren, Kade, Myla, Greyson, Carter, Jaxon, Oliver, and Ella.
She was predeceased by both parents, son Chris, brother Richard, sister Charleen, and brother in laws Mark & Matt.
Per her wishes, there will be no memorial service.
