Obituary of Elizabeth Posluszny

Elizabeth “Liz” Posluszny, 90, of Glenville, NY, passed away on January 1, 2023, at Capstone Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. 

Liz was born in Amsterdam, NY on February 26, 1932, daughter of the late Phillip and Mary (Nasso) DeMaria. She graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Liz was married to the love of her life, John Posluszny, on October 13, 1957. She was devoted to her family, especially her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Liz worked for many years at W.T. Grant. She was an avid Yankees fan and coached many a game from her living room. Prior to moving to Glenville, Liz was a member and past president of the Woestina and Rotterdam Senior Citizen groups. She loved meeting with friends at the Rotterdam Senior Center for crafting and other activities. When she wasn’t at the Senior Center, Liz could always be found with a book in her hand, and a stack to be read on the table next to her. 

Besides her parents, Liz is predeceased by her husband, John. She is also predeceased by her three brothers and three sisters. Liz is survived by her three daughters, Joan (Mark) Frederick, Betty Hanson, Kathy (Mike) Czajkowski and her son, John (Melissa) Posluszny, as well as her sister, Gedia DeMaria. Liz is also survived by eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 11am at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY with The Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. as celebrant. Visitation will be from 10 to 11, prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY, where she will be laid to rest with John. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Alzheimers Association
