Norma Bowley posted a condolence
Thursday, January 5, 2023
The Bowley family sends their condolences. For over 2 years, we got to know Jasper. I told the family how he could change the course of a chess game with one move of a pawn, how he appreciated little things like a cup of coffee or a PBJ, how he kept abreast of the "international news, so that he could keep an eye on the war", how he accepted help while maintaining his dignity, how he made the verbal crossword puzzle fun, how he appreciated the birds outside the window, how he couldn't bear to watch commercials about abused dogs or elephants, and how he chose to be a vegetarian. We enjoyed his stories about his youth in the U.K. and his travels to France and Antarctica. I'm so glad I got his recollections on video before he grew less communicative. Of course, we greatly enjoyed the sing-alongs from The King and I and Mary Poppins and the Wizard of Oz as well as songs like "Chattanooga Choo Choo", Daisy, Daisy, and of course, Penny Lane and I Want to Hold Your Hand. He was a klnd gentleman with a wide streak of humor.
We will miss him and I will miss getting to spend time with your family, too. May the Lord bless you with His comfort and peace.
