Obituary of Antoinette "Toni" Bennice
Mrs. Antoinette “Toni” (Marotta) Bennice, 72, of Amsterdam, passed away Saturday December 17, 2022 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady with her family at her side.
Born in Squille, Provencia Caserta , Italy on January 4, 1950. She was a daughter of Arcangelo and Michelina Chifariello Marotta. She attended school in Amsterdam and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
She enjoyed her profession as a Hairdresser and worked for many years at the former Continental Coiffures on East Main St. in Amsterdam.
Toni married Peter Bennice on June 26, 1971. In addition to her loving husband she is survived by her beloved daughter, Gina Ulrich and son-in-law, Joseph Ulrich of Amsterdam. Two cherished grandchildren, Sophia and Lily Ulrich of Amsterdam. Her dear sisters, Josephine (Victor) Sperduto of Amsterdam and Torina (Thomas) Reed of Broadalbin, NY. Brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Cathy Bennice and Palma and Ron Pedrick all of Saratoga, NY. Aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was predeceased by her parents, Arcangelo and Michelina Marotta.
She was a communicant of Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. She was also a former Board Member of the Sanford Home for Women and was a member the Broadalbin Seniors.
Toni was proud of her Italian heritage and was an incredible daughter, wife, mother, “Nonna”, sister and fierce friend. She had a kind and generous heart and will be missed deeply. She loved opera and ballet, gardening and was an avid walker. What she enjoyed most was spending time with her family and friends and having coffee with her sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday December 21, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, East Main St. Amsterdam with Rev. Martin Kordel, CRL presiding. The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the Mass at Historic St. Mary’s Church from 9:30 to 11:30AM. Private interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam.
