Obituary of George A.H. Morgan

George A. H. Morgan, 80, of Gloversville, NY and Cape Coral, FL passed away on December 9 2022 at his Home in Gloversville, NY.  He was born in Gloversville on October 5, 1942 and was a lifelong resident. The son of George S. and Jeanette Girard Morgan, George was a US Army veteran serving in Okinawa from 1968 to 1970, earning the rank of sergeant in the shortest allowed amount of time (15 months).

George was a graduate of Gloversville High School in 1961 and was in the first graduating class at Fulton-Montgomery Community College in 1966.  George furthered his education thru the American Institute of Banking, the New York Bankers Association, and the Independent Bankers Association.

George went to work for City National Bank and Trust Company in 1967 until it was sold in 2006. George was Executive Vice-President, Cashier and Trust Officer of the Bank and was also on the Bank’s Board of Directors. He was also Vice-President of the Bank’s parent Company CNB Bancorp Inc., and President of CNB REIT Corp.

George was very civic minded and believed in giving back to the community. In the past he was President and Board member of the American Cancer Society of Fulton County, President and Campaign Chairman of the Gloversville United Way, Chairman of the Board of trustees of the YMCA, Treasurer and Board member of the Fulton County Economic Development Corp., Treasurer and Board member of Mountain Valley Hospice, Board member of The Gloversville Public Library Foundation, President and Board member of Pine Brook Golf Club and was on the Board of Trustees of the Eccentric Club.

George enjoyed traveling, golfing, hunting, fishing, amusement parks, following horse racing and most of all spending time with his family.

George is survived by his wife Janice E. Morgan and they enjoyed 59 years of marriage.  He is also survived by three of his children: Christopher Morgan of Gloversville, NY, Stephanie (Derek) Roy of Cazenovia, NY and Kathryn (Mark) Graf of Macedon, NY.  He is also survived by grandchildren Michael Koehler, Logan Nowak, Colin Graf and Morgan Roy and son-in-law Clark Roberson.

George was predeceased by his parents and daughter Susan Papini. 

The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:30am to 1:30pm on Saturday, December 17th at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville.

Interment with Military Honors will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville
