Obituary of Marie C. Eaton

Marie C. Eaton, age 100, of Wilton, New York (formerly of Caroga Lake & Gloversville, NY) passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at Saratoga Hospital, in Saratoga Springs with her loving family by her side.

She was born on December 19, 1921 in Niagara Falls, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Jablonski) Derrico. Marie married Alvin C. Eaton and together they enjoyed 60 years of marriage and raising their 4 children . Marie was a devout Roman Catholic, an active member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Gloversville and  participated in their Women’s Society. She also held memberships with the Nick Stoner Senior Center of Caroga Lake and the Johnstown Moose Club. Marie was very family oriented and genuinely enjoyed being a mother, a grandmother, and being "Nonnie" to her great-grandchildren and attending all of their sporting events . She loved cooking, baking and hosting numerous parties at her home where there was always music & dancing and everyone was welcomed . Marie loved her years living in Caroga Lake with cherished friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed her trips to the casino and relaxing with a good Manhattan.

Marie is survived by her children: Russell J. Eaton , Barbara M. (Jim) Valovic, and Mary R. Eaton (Debora Chartrand), her grandchildren: Kristin (Bob) Bryans, Anthony(Ashlee) Eaton, Shelly (Dan) Fennessey, Michael (Nicole) Valovic, Allison Eaton, Amanda (Ryan) Mason, and Jennifer (Bill) Baird, and her great-grandchildren: Leah Valovic, Braeden Fennessey, Taylor Fennessey, Molly Fennessey, and Ashlin Baird and her very special granddog and companion Kona. 

She was predeceased by her parents: Joseph and Rose (Jablonski) Derrico; her husband: Alvin C. Eaton, her son: James A. Eaton; and her brothers: Anthony Derrico and Joseph Derrico.

The family will have visitation for relatives and friends from 10:00AM to 11:00AM, on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St., Gloversville where a Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00AM with Fr. Matt Wetsel officiating.

Interment will take place in the spring at Mount Carmel Cemetery with a Celebration of Life to follow at her daughter’s home in Wilton, NY.
