Obituary of Steven O'Donnell

Steven Lee O'Donnell, age 46, of The Town of Bleeker, NY passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022. 

He was born on September 19, 1976 in Gloversville, NY, the son of Daniel Lee O’Donnell and the late Valerie (Grant) O'Donnell.  Steve was raised in Caroga Lake, NY.  He attended Johnstown High School.  Steve specialized in asbestos abatement, and was a skilled contractor.  Steve could do anything he put his mind to including construction, remodeling, working with knotty pine, and plumbing. 

Steve was an outdoorsman. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He knew all the best fishing spots and where to find the hidden spots on the lakeshore to grill his fish.  He enjoyed ice fishing, and in the summer enjoyed taking his son fishing at dusk.

Steve loved a good time. He was funny, charming, charismatic, quick witted and smart.  He enjoyed affectionately teasing those close to him.  He loved being around his friends and family, whether it involved sitting and chatting over drinks, hanging around a bonfire, playing horseshoes, shooting a game of pool, dancing, or jumping in the lake. 

He was also incredibly good with kids, was the proud owner of two Jack Russell’s, and could make anyone laugh.  He was loyal and protective over those he loved. 

Steven is survived by his father: Daniel Lee O'Donnell; his sisters: Maureen N. Launer,  Lisa L Contreras-Wilmot, Christine Contreras; his son Connor O'Donnell, his niece Madyson Wilmot and his nephew Nathan Launer. 

He was predeceased by his mother: Valerie Lynn O'Donnell. 

The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00AM to 12:00PM, on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville where a Celebration of Life will follow at noon.  A gathering will take place at Vrooman's in Caroga Lake, NY at 1:30pm.
