Obituary of John F. McCumber

John F. McCumber, age 72, of Mayfield, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany.
He was born July 12, 1950 in Albany, New York. He was a 1969 graduate of Schalmont High School and served in the US Army from 1972 to 1976. He was employed as an engineer at the Watervliet Arsenal for a number of years until his retirement. He was the Honorary Mayfield Village Santa Claus and served at many local events. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved cruising with his wife and friends, spoiling his grand/great grand children and living life to its fullest. 
He was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and the Knights of Columbus Council #265 and it's Fourth Degree Assembly.
John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Virginia "Ginny" McCumber; children, Amy Danta, Timothy McCumber (Micha), Jill Thaisz (Peter), Jason McCumber (Katie) and Tara Plumadore; grandchildren, Breanna Danta, Marissa Danta, Robert Danta, Nikolas Danta, Justin Danta, Aiden McCumber (Chris Austin), Madison McCumber, Mikayda Eastman, Benjamin Thaisz, Connor Thaisz, Cameron McCumber, Jase McCumber, Anthony Yuret, Adriana Yuret and Ariana Yuret; great-grandchildren, Barrett Austin and Wesson Austin; siblings, Thomas McCumber, Burt McCumber (Dorothy), Harold McCumber (Teresa), Shirley Porter (John) and Willie Baker (Darlene); as well as nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Esther Armstrong Baker and brother, George McCumber.
A private prayer service will take place at the convenience of the family at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Matthew Wetsel officiating.
