Obituary of Sophie Fariello

Ms. Sophie Fariello, 86, of Amsterdam, New York passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at St Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. 

She was born on January 29, 1936 to Mr. Daniel Fariello and Mrs. Christine Agresta Fariello of Amsterdam. 

A lifelong area resident, Sophie attended local schools graduating from Amsterdam High School, the class of 1954. 

She was proud to be employed by Amsterdam Printing as the Administrative Secretary to the CEO, where she worked for over 40 years before her retirement.  

Following her retirement Sophie remained extremely active, and enjoyed bowling, golf, playing bocce ball. She loved to sew and crochet. She will be remembered as a very social person who loved to spend time with her friends and family.  

Sophie is survived by her brother David Fariello and his wife Frances Fariello of Clifton Park, nieces and nephews; Dr. Deborah Sculco, Frank J. Sculco, Anthony A. Sculco, Kim Sculco Agresta and her husband William, Michelle Sculco Dorr, Wendy Fariello Phillips and her husband Brian,, and Daniel Fariello as well as numerous grand nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Rosalie Sculco, and beloved companion of many years Ronald Husted.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, October 5, 2022  at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Roman Catholic Church with The Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. Interment will take place at St Michael's Cemetery immediately following the service. 

Family and Friends are invited to call on Tuesday October 4, 2022 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam.
