Obituary of George James Bottomley Jr.

George James Bottomley, 69, a life-long resident of Amsterdam, New York, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2022 at Ellis Hospital. George was born on July 15, 1953 in Amsterdam to the late George Sr. and Winifred (Jones) Bottomley. He attended local schools, and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School with the class of 1972.

George worked at the Coleco factory in Amsterdam for many years as a Machine Operator. Throughout his life, George always loved all types of music, and was a big fan of Elvis Presley. He took great pride in the fact that he used to be a singer locally. George was a proud Grandfather, and loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren whenever he could. He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church

George is survived by his children, Duane Bottomley, Sherry Bottomley, Denise Baker, and Kayla Bottomley; his beloved grandchildren, Ryan, Duane Jr., Victoria, Destinee, and Julian; four great-grandchildren; his siblings, Karen Bottomley and Brian Bottomley; as well as several nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, George Sr. and Winifred, he is preceded in passing by his brothers, Gary and Trevor Bottomley.

Funeral services will be held privately, at the convenience of the family. He will be laid to rest with his brothers in Green Hill Cemetery in Amsterdam.
