Obituary of Richard A. DaBiere Sr.
It is with great sadness that the family of Mr. Richard Anthony DaBiere Sr., 84, of Tribes Hill, NY, announce his unexpected passing on Tuesday August 16, 2022 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. At the time of his peaceful death he was surrounded by his family.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on March 26, 1938 he was the son of the late Anthony and Nellie Bujanowski DaBiere. A lifelong area resident, he graduated from Fonda High School in 1956 and later graduated from FMCC in 1970. He was a US Army Veteran serving from 1963 to 1967.
Richard was employed by the Niagara Mohawk Company for over 25 years and retired in 2000.
Richard married Loretta Hayes on February 22, 1969. In addition to his devoted wife, he is survived by his loving son, Richard DaBiere Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Fonda, NY, as well as his cherished granddaughter Cecilee. Additionally, he is survived by one brother, Anthony DaBiere Jr. and his wife Connie of Tribes Hill, NY and a sister, Betty Ann Duell and her husband Norman of Tribes Hill, NY. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Yvetta Tryon and her husband Gene, Kathleen Hayes and Betty Moore along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents and his in-laws Clifford and Lena Hayes. He was also predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Clifford Hayes Jr., Robert Seymour Hayes, Howard Hayes and Kenneth Moore, as well as his sister-in-law Marjorie Hayes and his niece Jennifer Tryon Dufresne.
Richard was a very family-oriented man. He loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter who was the light of his life. He also enjoyed going to the casino with his son and friends.
Special thanks to the ICU nurses at Albany Medical Center and the compassionate staff at Jackson and Betz Funeral Home. Upon Richard's request, there will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Rich's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Melanoma Research Foundation, 1411 K Street, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20005.
