Obituary of Concetta E. Zevola
Concetta Elizabeth “Connie” Zevola, 73, of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 14, 2022 with her loving family at her side.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on August 16, 1948, a daughter of Samuel and Clementine Morreale. She grew up on the Southside of Amsterdam and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School Class of 1966.
She received her degree in Nursing from the Mary McClellan School. She went to work at Plattsburg Hospital where she met her loving husband in the US Airforce. Connie moved to Dobbs Ferry and worked at Phelps Memorial Hospital for a short time. She eventually moved back to Amsterdam and then found her forever home in Perth, NY with Skip and her children.
Connie also worked as a private duty nurse, then worked ten years at St. Mary’s Hospital. She finished her career of many years as a caring nurse for several OBGYN doctors.
Connie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her seven grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking family dinners and hosting many holiday and family gatherings. She also loved playing poker with family and friends, reading, helping out with the library and sharing her love of painting with her friends. She was a lifelong communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Amsterdam.
She is survived by her husband Francis “Skip” Zevola whom she married on September 13, 1969 . In addition to her loving husband she is survived by her beloved children, Eric (Fazeena) Zevola of Perth, NY, Stacia (Brandt) Minkler of Perth, NY and Katherine (Rodney) Murphy of Perth, NY. She was a loving Nonna to her cherished grandchildren, Alianna Zevola, Antonio Zevola, Maddalena Minkler, Nico Minkler, Samantha Murphy, Emilia Murphy and Connor Murphy. She is also survived by her brothers John Morreale and Richard Morreale. She is also loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Morreale.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday July 22, 2022 at 11:15AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John St., Amsterdam with the Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis V.F. as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Truax Rd., Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday July 22, 2022 prior to the Funeral Mass from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave, Gloversville, NY 12078. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
