Obituary of A. Dianne Florimo

A. Dianne Barkley Florimo, formerly of Amsterdam, NY passed away on October 21, 2021 surrounded by her family.  She was 91 years old.   

A longtime area resident, she was born on April 16, 1930 the daughter of the late Milton V. Barkley and Alida (Smalley) Barkley. Dianne was a graduate of Wilbur Lynch High school and a graduate of the school of commerce. She worked for beneficial finance company for 30 years. After she retired, she opened The Bridal Shop in Schenectady New York (formally Yours Bridal) where she was happy for many years. After closing her shop she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and being active in her church. Above all, she loved her family deeply and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In 2020 she moved to North Carolina to be near her daughter and son-in-law.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased in death by her husband Vito C. Florimo; her brother William Barkley; and her sister-in-law Rosemarie Brown.

Survivors include her daughter Suzanne (Randy) Kissinger; nieces and nephews Patricia (Thomas) Clark, Michael Barkley, Kevin (Irene) Barkley; cousins Sandra (Christopher) Blessing, David (Barbara) Smalley; extended family Cynthia Gendron, Adam Gendron, Samantha (Lucas) Eichorst and daughter Alida. 

A Memorial Service for Dianne will take place on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 11a.m. at the United Methodist Church, 347 Golf Course Road, Amsterdam, NY with the Rev. Judith Humphrey- Fox presiding.  A calling hour will precede the service beginning at 10a.m. at the church.  All are invited to attend. Private burial will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to her beloved church.
