Obituary of Thomas Michael Hojohn

Thomas “Hoj” Michael Hojohn, 75, of Hagaman NY passed away peacefully at home on June 17, 2022. Born in Amsterdam NY March 15, 1947, he was the son of the late Raymond and Beulah Hojohn.

     Tom was a well-known, lifelong area resident. He was drafted and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Carpetland for 40+ years where he worked alongside great friends and wonderful employers, who he also considered some of his closest friends.

      He is survived by his wife, Diana (Billington) who he married on August 16, 1969. They shared a very full and happy life together for 52 years and had two daughters, Tracy Hojohn (Anthony D’Addio) and Hilarie DeLima (Michael DeLima). Tom was an EPIC “Poppy” to 3 grandsons: Camden and Parker DeLima and Dayton D’Addio. As much as he enjoyed golf, casinos, trips to Mystic CT, ocean vacations, Mohawk games, sarcastic humor, mispronouncing everyone’s name and Stewart’s coffee, his greatest enjoyment came from his close relationship with his grandsons. They could always count on him to be in the stands at all of their sporting events. His daughters, amazing sons-in-law and grandsons always provided nonstop entertainment, headaches, chaos and hilarious good times that his family will cherish.

      He was predeceased by his brothers Robert, Richard, David, Jack and Donald Hojohn and sister Patricia Santoro. He is survived by his sister, Audrey Bryk, brother-in-law, Earl Billington Jr. and sister-in-law, Lorraine Hojohn.    Several nieces and nephews and many good friends also survive.

    Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Saturday June 25, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam NY.  Military Honors and Prayer Service will be held at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.   Please note the family would like you to respect their wishes for masks to be worn. Private interment will be held in Hagaman Mills Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
