Obituary of Lawrence McWalker Sr.

Lawrence “Louie” Mc Walker Sr; age 78, was born July 31, 1943 and was raised in Gloversville NY, passed away June 6, 2022 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown NY. He had been battling an illness that took him peacefully in his sleep.

 

Louie was a beloved father and grandfather and enjoyed his time spent with family, especially his grandkids. Enjoyed being outdoors and camping and going to the races. He loved his old western movies and building race cars with his brothers.

 

He worked for Treher & Jung Plumbing Co. for several years and then went on to working his later years at Bob Cole’s Gulf Station and Maple Ave Junk Yard. He was also volunteer fireman for a time.

 

Louie is predeceased by both his parents, Raymond Mc Walker Sr. and Anna Mc Walker and his siblings, Joseph and Raymond “Jeff” Mc Walker Jr. and Anna “Princess” Mc Walker-Plaskett, as well as his daughter Anna Mae Briggs and grand-daughter Ashanti Rivera.

 

He is survived by his ex-wife Frances Mc Walker, with whom he resided with until his time at the hospital, where he then passed on.

 

Louie is also survived by all of his children, his three daughters and son; Sally Rivera, Lawrence Mc Walker Jr. (Rebecca Steenburg), Renee Torres (Felix Torres) and Lynnette Briggs; his grandkids, Shantelle Warren, Malacki Cromer, Leticia Rivera, Jada Rivera, Diana Steenburg, Camryn Hall, Bo Mc Walker and Zaydyn Rivera and step-grandchildren. He also leaves behind cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

Cremation will take place under direction of Walrath & Stewart Funeral home. A celebration of life will take place in September when all his children will be in NY to attend. The service date will be provided later with exact information for anyone who would like to attend.
