Obituary of Norma J. Coons

Norma J. Coons passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter Barbara on May 21, 2022, 26 days short of her 94 birthday. Unfortunately she did not live to see her 100th birthday, a wish of hers.  

 Norma was born on June 16, 1928, the only child of Mr. Raymond Rivenburg and Mrs. Leah Hutton Rivenburg of Ft Johnson, NY. She attended Ft Johnson School and Amsterdam High School. In her school years she was a member of the Ft Johnson All Girl Fife & Drum Corp and the WBA Drum Corp, giving her many great memories that she was always happy to share. 

 She was employed for most of her life as a seamstress throughout Amsterdam. After retirement Norma enjoyed working on her passion for quilting and left many great pieces for the family to share. 

  She is survived by her husband of 60 years Fredrick L Coons, daughters Cathleen (Joseph) Cieply , Barbara (Donna ) Pawlowski and from her first marriage daughters Rebecca (Edward) Kercado , Donna-Peggy (Richard) Rogers , Linda (Anthony) Slezak, 17 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. 

A private service will take place at the convenience of the family.  

 The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Saratoga Hospice, especially Arleen, Beth, Emily and Molly for all of their kindness and help the last 6 months. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to your local Hospice in Norma’s name.
