Obituary of Cheryl L. Acquilla
Cheryl Lee (Frye) Acquilla age 65, passed away at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville, NY on April 29, 2022 after a long, 20-year battle with cancer. Her bravery when faced with every challenge was inspirational.
Cheryl had a vibrant, infectious smile. She left every person she met feeling joyous no matter what she was going through. She had an enormous love for life and her family. She leaves behind her soulmate and the love of her life, her husband, Louis Acquilla of Gloversville. Cheryl also leaves behind, Penny (Piper) Hutchins (Frank) who was not only her daughter but also her best friend. Her stepson, Adam Acquilla, who she loved very much, also survives her. She was madly in love with her grandchildren, Liam and Olivia. “Grandma Cheryl” will be missed every moment of everyday. She also leaves behind her fur-baby, Maggie, who is going to miss her mommy so much and is the goodest girl ever.
Cheryl was born November 13, 1956 to the very handsome couple, Dolores (Hill) Frye and the late Frederick E. Frye in Gloversville, NY. She was the oldest of four children. Her siblings, Crystal Frye, and David Frye (Maryhope) survive her. Her brother, William Frye, predeceased her. She is also survived by her nieces, Marielyse and Sarah, and her nephews, Frederick and Daniel, who she loved with all of her heart. Cheryl also had many loving cousins who she spent her life with making wonderful memories. She loved them all very much.
Cheryl met her life-long partner and husband, Louie in 1984. From that moment on, she was an “Acquilla.” She leaves behind a massive tribe of loving family and friends. Cheryl has nine Acquilla siblings, all of whom, along with their families, she loved very much. Her family meant the world to her.
She was a 1974 graduate of Gloversville High School. She received her Cosmetology certificate and worked in the field for a short time before starting her long career working for the local telephone company. This is where she made some amazing life-long friends. She loved her work family deeply. There are many who love her and will miss her greatly.
At the end of her life, a team of Angels at Mountain Valley Hospice cared for her. She formed many special relationships with her caregivers, as did all of us. We will forever be grateful for having them in our lives.
