Obituary of Marion C. DeSantis
Marion Caroline (Visconti) DeSantis, age 101, of Gloversville, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, Gloversville. She was born September 17, 1920 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Leopold and Louise (Procita) Visconti. She was a 1938 graduate of Gloversville High School and was later employed as a glove maker by Meyers Glove Co. But her real life’s work and greatest joy was raising and nurturing her five children and as wife to her loving husband, Ralph. It was as a Mom that she truly excelled, imparting her wisdom, patience and unconditional love. By her natural grace and generosity of spirit, she was a living example to all of us of a life well lived.
Marion enjoyed holidays and family gatherings and socializing at the Gloversville Senior Center. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Gloversville.
Survivors include five children: Vincent DeSantis, Frank DeSantis (Paula), Jerry DeSantis (Andrea), Ralph DeSantis (Victor Pardo) and Mary DeSantis; eleven grandchildren: Kemal DeSantis, Dorian Brumaghim, James DeSantis, Susan DeSantis, Cora DeSantis, Jason DeSantis, Frank DeSantis, Jr., Michael DeSantis, Jonathan DeSantis, Jeffrey DeSantis and Mark DeSantis. She also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marion was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Ralph DeSantis; all seven of her siblings, Frank Visconti, Joseph Visconti, Jenny Gray, Jerry Visconti, Carl Visconti, Louise Visconti and Pasquale Visconti; as well as her grandson, Jemal DeSantis.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Lois, Debbie and all the staff and management of Hillcrest Spring Adult Care in Amsterdam for the wonderful care Marion received over the last several years as a resident there. It is truly a gem in our region.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 to 11:30am Saturday, April 30th at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon Saturday at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 153 S. Main St; with the Rev Donald Czelusniak officiating.
Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Gloversville Senior Center or to Hillcrest Spring Adult Care Facility.
