Obituary of Barbara Ann James

Barbara Ann James, 73, of Clifton Park, NY died Monday, April 19, 2022 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.  Born on September 4, 1948 she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine Compani Ford. 

A lifelong area resident, Barbara graduated from Fonda-Fultonville High School in 1966.  She completed beautician school in Albany, NY and worked in several hair dresser shops.  She also worked as a secretary for First National Bank of Scotia for a short time.  In 1981 she began her Federal career at the Social Security Administration in Schenectady, NY, where she met her future husband, David.  She went on to work at the Albany and Troy offices.  In her final years she was employed by the Federal Highway Administration in Albany, until she retired after 30 years of service. 

In her retirement, Barbara wrote four novels as a hobby.  She was looking forward to trips to Boston and Cape Cod this year to celebrate their 40^th wedding anniversary. 

Survivors include her beloved husband, David James; her brother, Joseph (Karen) Ford; her sisters, Roberta (Ralph) Young and Teresa Campochiaro; one nephew, Michael; and three nieces, Michelle, Kelly and Kristy; and one brother-in-law, Douglas James. 

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 2p.m. until 4p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY.  A private burial service will take place at a later date.  Please visit the online memorial at www.brbsfuneral.com
