Obituary of Margaret F. Alexaitis
Mrs. Margaret F. Alexaitis, 87, of Forbes Street, Amsterdam, NY died peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2022 surrounded by her family. Born in Amsterdam, NY on June 12, 1934 she was the daughter of the late Albert and Frances Berinati DePalma.
A lifelong area resident, Margaret attended local schools and was of the Catholic faith. She worked for many local companies including The Button Shop, Eddie Brush, Coleco and Noteworthy. Margaret loved spending time with her family and will be missed by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her sisters Mary Anne Slater and Loretta Andrus.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Willard A. Alexaitis; two children, Deborah Kameka (Mark) and Glenn Alexaitis (Nancy); two siblings, Vincent DePalma (Thomas O’Connor) and Joanne Lesniewski (Matthew); seven grandchildren, Cara Pelletier (Michael), Ryan Alexaitis (Emily Hidde), Amy Beth Blowers (Jason), Steven Kameka (Elise), Daniel Morgan, Elizabeth Morgan and Katherine Morgan; nine great grandchildren, Ethan, Makenna, Malia, Kyla, Alexa, A.J., Harper, Tristan and Savannah; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, April 8, 2022 at 11a.m. at Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY with the Rev. Juanito Asprec as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Casimir’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the Mass beginning at 9:30a.m. at the church.
