I met Lauren when he and I both lived on Second Ave in Gloversville back in the early 70’s. We became fast friends and spend much of our free time together hanging out doing “guy things. That close friendship went on after he moved to Third Ave in Johnstown. I can honestly say that during those years, he was my best friend. But I ended up moving away for a job and time and circumstances caused us to drift apart. I now live out near Buffalo. I’ve thought of Lauren and the good times we had often in recent years. I’m deeply saddened by his passing. He was a good man and a dear friend.

So sad to read about Lauren's passing. Fond memories go back many, many years, I mean the 1940.s and the 1050's
at Caroga Lake, Every summer was a delight at "the lake". All the happenings on the South Shore of the lake each summer.
The families....Berner, Hine. Little. Washburn. Grant and Curnin. .. Still remember those big scoops of Washburn's ice cream.
Those times will never be lost as they are etched in one's memories. Not knowing. but I would imagine that Tony is one of the last
of the original family. Rest in peace Lauren.. You are remembered..

And they called it Puppy Love. My maiden name is Linda Tolge. Lauren’s parents had a summer cottage at Sacandaga Lake next door to the cottage my family would rent during the summer months. At 14 years old I had a crush on Lauren. We never went beyond holding hands but we wrote letters to each other during the winter. We decided if we got married and had a daughter we would call her Laurinda (a combination of his name and mine. Lauren even surprised me with a sterling silver band that I still have today. We would walk around Sacandaga Park and Lauren would sing “Who put the bomp in the bomp bah bomp bah bomp, who put the ram in the Rama lama ding dong.” We lost touch over the years but I continued to think of him fondly throughout my life. Rest In Peace, Lauren. ♥️
