Obituary of Dorothy M. Sakadolsky
Dorothy M. Sakadolsky passed away peacefully on March 13th, 2022 after a brief illness. Her strength and smile were evident throughout the day, a beacon of her youth and true testament to her being. She will be remembered as a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Dorothy was born May 27th, 1932 in Amsterdam, NY, daughter of Vince and Jane Haberek and the eldest of 5 siblings (Dan (deceased), Loretta, Rosalie and Tess) where she was raised and attended high school. She worked as a secretary at General Electric before marrying her husband Richard (deceased) on April 12, 1953. Together they moved to Northville, NY to raise their three sons, Rick (deceased, wife Kim), Dave (wife Malou) and Mark (wife Lynn) where they managed the operations of the family grocery store Hollearn’s Market.
Dorothy enjoyed raising her family at her home on the lake, a place where she created memories that will forever be closest to our hearts. She truly enjoyed sharing time with her grandkids - Danny, Barbie, Alex, Stacia and Quianna. Riding bicycles in the yard, playing in leaf piles, eating popcorn by the TV and getting some undivided after school attention were only a few of the special privileges shared.
She will be remembered as an awesome cook, a talent she shared with each of her sons. Her handmade salads for the store, homemade golumpki (always extra for Sid Junquera), Sunday roasts waiting after a day of skiing and an array of Christmas cookies shine out. Dinner was always at 6:00 PM sharp!
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 9:30a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Northville, NY. Private interment of her cremated remains will take place in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. All are welcome to join the family for a time of fellowship from 3:00p.m. until 5:00p.m. at the home of Mark & Lynn Sakadolsky, 125 Smith Beach Road, Norhtville, NY.
In lieu of flowers Dave and Mark ask you to dance a Polka at your first opportunity, eat some golumpki and enjoy your family’s love!
