Obituary of Barbara Elizabeth Bianchi
Barbara Elizabeth Bianchi, 76, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday February 24, 2022, with her loving family by her side. Born in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Carmen and Julia (Miskinis) Cardillo. She married Frank "Chick" Bianchi on April 12, 1969, a marriage that lasted 53 years.
Barbara graduated from Amsterdam schools and subsequently worked at Mohasco Industries, Perth Central School District and, for 28 years, at June's Hallmark, retiring as a manager. Barbara cherished her family above all else and will be remembered for her kindness, humor, strength and dedication. She was a longtime communicant of St. Mary's Church.
She was predeceased by her parents and by her brother, Lawrence. She is survived by her husband, Frank; three children: Alison (George Negron) Bianchi of Rotterdam, Eric Bianchi of New York City, and Katie (Amy) Bianchi of Portland, OR; her grandson, Bodhi; her nephew, Nicholas Bianchi of CA, along with aunts and cousins.
The family wishes to thank the extraordinary staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Barbara; Father Robert DeMartinis and Deacon Michael Ryba for spiritual comfort; and many dear family, friends, and neighbors, for their kindness and generosity.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 11a.m. at Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY. Calling hours will be held prior to the Mass, beginning at 9a.m at the church. All are invited to attend. Private burial will take place in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Hagaman, NY. Out of an abundance of caution, it is requested that everyone attending the service, please wear a mask.
