Obituary of Mary A. Montmeny

Mary A. Montmeny, 73, of Amsterdam, NY died suddenly on Monday, January 31, 2022.  Born in Amsterdam, NY on August 15, 1948 at St. Mary’s Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and M. Jeannette Payette Montmeny.

Mary was a 1966 graduate of St. Mary’s Institute and later attended FMCC and the University at Albany.  She worked most of her career in the insurance industry as an underwriter.  Mary lived in many places during her lifetime including, Richmond, VA, Hartford, CT, Los Angeles, CA and Kokomo, IN.  She returned home to Amsterdam to enjoy her retirement and enjoyed going to tag sales and thrift shops.  She also enjoyed crafting.  

She is survived by her siblings, James A. Montmeny of Cody, Wyoming and Marcia A. Montmeny Kelly of Amherst, MA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to pray with the family on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 4p.m. at the Vigil Mass at Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam.  Private burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson.
