Obituary of Shirlie Marie Maitland

Ms. Shirlie Marie Maitland, 65 , of Amsterdam, New York  went to be with her Lord on Monday, February 21, 2022  at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, New York. She was born on May 14, 1956 to Mr. Shirley Maitland and Mrs. Mildred Thompson of Watertown, NY. She attended and graduated from local schools before attending SUNY Utica where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree.

Shirlie had boundless energy and a profound love of the great outdoors. She enjoyed spending time camping, kayaking, and hiking, especially with family on their annual family camping trip to Southwicks beach. She had numerous hobbies and especially enjoyed line dancing which she practiced for 30 years, and motorcycling. She had a deep sense of faith and looked forward to her weekly meeting with the Bridge Bible Study Group and services at My Redeemer Church in Albany.

Shirlie will be remembered for her vivacious love of life, sense of humor, and deep love for her friends and family.

Shirlie is survived by her soulmate Robert "Bob" Ohse, mother Mildred Thompson, daughters Randi-Lynne (Robert) Boswell of Perth, Kayla (Shawn) Putnam of Fultonville, and son Shawn (Angela Disandro) Donahue of Broadalbin. She also leaves behind her siblings; Steven (Tina) Maitland, Alex (Tamara) Maitland, Todd (Elizabeth) Maitland, Terry (Robert) Blanchard, Kathy (Raymond) Hall, Timothy (Katie) Maitland, Daniel Maitland, Theresa Maitland, Deborah (Jack) Fargo, Lisa (Tom) Price, and Julie (Emmett) Smith.Her beloved grandchildren include; Isabella and Lauryn Donahue, Ethan and Breanna Boswell, Lillian Fish, Darren and Michael Putnam. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Calling Hours have been scheduled for Friday, February 25, 2022 from 3:00PM to 6:00PM at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Additional Calling Hours will take place on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM, a Service of Remembrance will take place at 1:00PM on Saturday at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home.
