Austin, Alice and family;
I am so very sorry for your loss. Carolyn was an amazing friend and person to so many. Her smile lit up every room she entered, including Heaven. Carolyn took joy in maintaining friendships and lived the phrase "Once a friend; always a friend."
Carolyn's and my birthday were three days apart. Every year I'd call or text her to wish her a happy birthday. She talked my ear off and had us both in stitches with her hilarious stories. Her favorite topic was Bella. Carolyn shared so many fun times she had while spending time with Bella including her dance events. When our conversations came to a close; Carolyn never said "Goodbye." She ended the conversation with a friendly "Love you."
In late 2014; Carolyn contacted me about a world record attempt where the proceeds went to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The event was called the "One Square Mile of Hope." She asked me if I'd be interested in flying back and joining her in the event. Carolyn was still weak from chemo and she asked if I would paddle the canoe during the event. Carolyn didn't know at the time that I had recently survived melanoma as well as a full knee replacement. I jumped at the chance, flew back, and joined her in the event. Boy what a pair we maid! Me hobbling around and Carolyn so very weak. Carolyn was very passionate about completing this event and determined to complete her mission. The morning of the paddle; Carolyn handed me a sticker and asked me to place it on the back of her jacket. The sticker simply said "SURVIVOR". Long story short....we did it! We as a group; broke the world record. Carolyn is part of a Guinness World Record. Not once did Carolyn show her weakness. She was and still is a SURVIVOR. She now survives in our hearts and memories.
I will miss you from afar; Carolyn.
Love you...

I am heartbroken to hear this news, Austin and Alice. Carolyn and I were born two days apart and my mother told me we had flags on our onsies in the hospital (Carolyn was born on Flag Day). I practically lived at your house during high school, riding my bicycle from Randall to your house. I loved your Mom, and your Grandma made the best popcorn. I stayed overnight with Carolyn after the prom and would not have had it any other way. Carolyn had the best laugh in the world. Our loss, heaven's gain.
