Obituary of Jeanne S. Streeter
Mrs. Jeanne S. Streeter, 90, of Streeter Road, Fonda, NY died peacefully on Thursday, February 10, 2022. Born in Gloversville, NY on May 9, 1931 she was the only daughter of the late Richard and Ethel (Hawley) McMillan.
A lifelong area resident, Jeanne was a 1949 graduate of Gloversville High School. She then went on to attend college for nursing, and later graduating from business school. Jeanne was employed for General Electric for 30 years retiring as an Executive Secretary.
On September 6, 1952 she was united to the love of her life, Robert D. Streeter at the Fremont Street Methodist Church in Gloversville, whom she met at a square dance at Caroga Lake. The couple lived with Bob’s parents for a few years and Jeanne took care of Bob’s mom who had a stroke. They built there forever home on Streeter Road and their union was blessed with 60 years of unconditional love until his passing on March 19, 2012.
For over 50 years, Jeanne was a member of the Fonda Reformed Church and the Christian Women. She was also a longtime member of the Town of Mohawk Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, The Montgomery County Ladies Auxiliary and the Glen- Mohawk Seniors. She was instrumental in organizing her class reunions and always enjoyed visiting with her friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her adopted family, Judd and Sherri Kirschman and their children, Joshua and Danny; her cousins Nancy (Patrick) Davison and Jeff (Preeya) Hawley who were her caregivers; cousins and treasured friends.
Her family wishes to thank the staff at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home and Yvonne and the staff at NYOH for all of their care and professionalism during Jeanne’s illness.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 1p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Martin Road, Fonda, NY. All are invited to attend.
