Obituary of Carol S. Morehouse

Carol S. Morehouse, 79, of Galway, New York passed away peacefully on Friday, January 21^, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at River Ridge Living Center. She was born on May 22, 1942 in Amsterdam, NY to Kenneth and Marjorie (Dunlap) Dietrich. Carol graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School with the class of 1960.

Carol devoted her life to her family and community. The love and mentorship she bestowed to her children, grandchildren, and friends for over half of a century was her greatest gift. She was an active member of the former Trinity Reformed Church in Amsterdam, New York where she had many fond memories of teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. Her energy and enthusiasm can still be heard today, and her deep compassion for others lives on in all who knew and loved her.

Carol enjoyed her daily walks to Galway Lake, and family trips to Cape Cod and Maine. She had a great love for the humanities, including listening to music, playing the piano, painting with watercolors, as well as studying wellness and philosophy. Carol also loved to work on her garden, and being able to enjoy the flowers that grew every year.

She is survived by her Mother, Marjorie Dietrich, daughter, Susan (Eric) Brennan; sons, Bradley (Sarah) Morehouse, Paul Morehouse, and Gary Morehouse; grandchildren, Nicholas (Monica) Brennan, Evan Brennan, Emma Brennan, and Lilith Morehouse-VanSlyke; as well as by her brother, Robert Dietrich (Sandra), Nephew, Darren (Michelle) Dietrich, and niece, Karen Dietrich.

Aside from her father, Kenneth Dietrich, Carol is preceded in passing by her husband, William Morehouse, and daughter, Jane Morehouse.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, January 28, 2022 from Noon until 2:00 in the afternoon at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, New York. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 in the afternoon at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home with Linda and Gary VanSlyke presiding.
