Obituary of John A. Marozas

     John Anthony Marozas passed away on December 21, 2021 after a brief illness. At the time, he was in Atlantic City, NJ, a place he loved to visit. John grew up in Amsterdam, NY and received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in English from St. Michael's College in Winooski, VT. 

     Spending his adult life in Hoosick Falls, NY, John was an English Teacher at Hoosick Falls Central School.  His greatest passion in life was being a teacher where he developed great friendships with both his colleagues and students that lasted for years beyond the classroom. Formerly an EMT with the Hoosick Falls Rescue Squad, John also loved the outdoors and cherished time spent fishing in Alaska and in the Adirondacks, particularly Moose Pond. John was thrilled to have visited his family in Lithuania several years ago. 

     Predeceased by his parents, Anthony I. Marozas and Nellie M. Marozas of Amsterdam,

     John leaves behind his longtime companion, Lynne Dempsey; 4 children: Jacqueline Marozas of Greenwich, NY; Jennifer Seyboth (Brett) of Schenectady, NY; Sara Marozas of East Greenbush, and Peter Marozas (Jodie) of Parker, Colorado; 7 grandchildren (whom he cherished); brother, Dr. Don Marozas (Erin) of Livonia NY; former wife, Sherry, and several relatives in Lithuania. 

     There will be a graveside service for family and friends on Monday, May 23, 2022 at 1:00PM in the St. Ann Chapel in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Cemetery Rd., Amsterdam, NY.  Donations can be made in John’s name to the Hoosick Falls Rescue Squad, PO Box 16, Hoosick Falls, NY 12090.   Arrangements are under the direction of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
