Obituary of Oscar Seyfried
Mr. Oscar Seyfried, 85, of Fort Johnson, New York passed away Monday, January 3, 2022 at his home.
He was born on March 6, 1936 in Amsterdam, New York to Mr. Oscar Seyfried and Mrs. Mathilde Hildebrandt Seyfried.
Oscar owned and operated Seyfried Brothers Farm in Fort Johnson with his brother. In his younger years Oscar loved riding his motorcycle but his greatest passion was farming. Oscar was a hardworking and knowledgeable man who loved being outdoors and working with his hands. After selling the farm, Oscar enjoyed helping and teaching Angelo and Dante the things he had learned over the years. He still enjoyed riding his John Deere tractor and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Oscar is survived by his sister Anna (Frank) Alvarez of Fort Johnson, brother Walter (Jeanette) Seyfried of Gloversville, nieces; Lisa (Darryll) Towsley and Debra Seyfried, nephews; Frank Ryan Alvarez and Stephen (Sandra) Seyfried. He also leaves behind his great nieces and nephews; Jack, Anthony and Andrew Towsley, Mathilde “Maddie” and Frank Tyller Alvarez, Kayla, Jessica, Emily and Brittany, Joy, April and Chad Seyfried, as well as many friends.
Calling Hours will take place on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at Betz Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam NY 12010. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 9:30AM at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home. Masks will be required. Burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Fort Johnson immediately following the service.
