Obituary of Marcus F. Kruger
Marcus F. Kruger, 75, of Fort Johnson, New York, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Marcus was born on August 4, 1946 to the late Marcus C. and Julia (Stanavich) Kruger. He attended local schools, and was a graduate of Amsterdam High School.
After graduation, Marcus began working for the General Electric Company. He worked as a Welder with the Steel Gang for 30 years, until his retirement. On July 6, 1995 he was united in marriage to Sherri Diamond of Schoharie, New York. The couple has shared the past 26 years together in Fort Johnson.
Marcus was an avid hunter and fisherman, and belonged to the Reid Hill Fish and Game Club, as well as the Tribes Hill Fish and Game Club. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion at the American Legion John Wyszomirski Post 701 in Amsterdam. He was a loving husband and father, as well as a devoted grandfather to his two grandchildren who were the apples of his eye.
Marcus is survived by his wife, Sherri Diamond Kruger; his daughters, Holly Mayer (nee Kruger), her partner Jim Smeltzer, and Melissa (Robert) Washburn (nee Kruger); step-children, Heather Byers and Travis Byers; beloved grandchildren, Ashton Jackson and Olivia Johnson; brother, Dennis Kruger and his life-partner Bobette Bogardus; mother-in-law, Doris Diamond; as well as many friends, cousins, and hunting buddies.
A Celebration of Marcus’s Life will be held on August 4, 2022. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Reid Hill Fish and Game Club, Care of Ray Ludwin, 38 Mergner Road, Fort Johnson, NY 12070; or to the Tribes Hill Fish and Game Club, 470 Antlers Road, Fort Johnson, NY 12070.
