Obituary of Maurice H. Marchand

Maurice H. Marchand 98, of Amsterdam, NY died peacefully on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.  Born in Cap De La Madeleine, Canada on October 5, 1923 he was the son of the late Medard and Marie- Louise Fiset Marchand.

 

Mr. Marchand grew up in Canada and immigrated to the United States in 1943.  During WWII he worked for the government as a ship builder.  Following the war, he worked at Mohawk Carpets and later Anderson Instrument Company in Glen, NY as a machinist.

 

On October 15, 1966 he was united in marriage to Dolores E. Hogle Marchand.  That union was blessed with 46 years until her passing on October 1, 2012.  He was also predeceased by his two infant sons and all of his siblings.

 

Maurice was a true gentleman who will be remembered by many.  He enjoyed gardening, going out to eat and spending time with his family. 

 

Survivors include his nephews, Glen Armour and his wife Dawn of Glenville, NY and Joseph Boyle and his wife Ginger of Clifton Park, NY; his nieces, Denise Bergeron, Marguerite Carriere and Marie Andree- Romard, all of Canada; and many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 11a.m. at Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam with the Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis as celebrant.  A calling hour will precede the funeral beginning at 10a.m. at the church.  Burial will take place in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.  Masks are required.
