Obituary of Cynthia Irwin

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our mother, Mrs. Cynthia J. Irwin, age 74, of Amsterdam, NY, who was surrounded by love ones in the comfort of her home on December 5, 2021.

She was born June 3, 1947, in Amsterdam, the daughter of the late Frank and Genevieve Knapik. In 1970, she married her husband, Mark W. Irwin. Our mother lived in Amsterdam her whole life. She was an elementary school teacher for the Greater Amsterdam School District. She was passionate about teaching and learning, a love that carried over to both of us. Cynthia graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh. She was a compassionate animal lover, especially her dogs and cats. We remember the many pets we had growing up. She will be remembered by her friends for her generous spirit, her honesty, and how she made them laugh. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Cynthia will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Michelle Mazur, her son Jason Irwin, son-in-law Robert Mazur, grandchildren Lauren and Matthew Mazur, nephew Tim Knapik, nieces Heather LaPierre (Knapik) and Monica Bravo(Thompson), sisters-in-law Mary Ellen Lorini and Lynda Thompson(Irwin), cousins Joanie Zurawel (Dylong) and Franie McCabe (Korzeniewski) and many other beloved relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her loving husband,  Mark W. Irwin and her brother,  F. Tim Knapik.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday December 8, 2021 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday December 9, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church 50-52 Cornell St., Amsterdam with Father Pascal Iannotti as celebrant.  Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Amsterdam.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J.
