Obituary of Mark Lee Fisk

Mark Lee Fisk, 45 of Fort Plain, NY, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital.  Mark was born on September 6, 1976.

Mark is survived by his loving life-long care giver, grandmother, June (Mowers) Putnam; his sister, Tara Whiteman-Fager, his brother-in-law William Fager; his nephews Kaeden Fager, Kole Fager, & Channing Fager; a man he knew and recognized as his step-father Wayne Whiteman; his brother Travis Charles Rouse; niece Unique Ashlee Rouse; his life long best friend since childhood Bernie Moak; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins in the Mowers, Rouse, & Spaulding families. He is preceded in passing by his mother, Lesley Horning.

Mark enjoyed long car rides, all genres of music, especially Tupac, playing video games, going for drives with his brother, sentimental gift giving, bonding with his nephews, caring for his cats, reminiscing about Mom, and as his cousin says, “he was the biggest Denver Broncos and Elway fan in the world.” Until his last breath, Mark loved to sing and entertain his friends & family, and he loved laughter.

Mark’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital, the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice, Mr. and Mrs. Mosher, Jean Pickering, Kalee Nichols OConnor, and everyone in the community who helped Mark during his final days.

Funeral services will be held privately, at the convenience of the immediate family. He will be laid to rest with his mother and his late grandfather, Lester Spaulding, in Freysbush Cemetery. A warm thank you is extended to Pam Mattice and family for providing a final gathering and resting place for Mark and his beloved mother.

In honor of Mark’s love of cats, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter 133 Hilltop Rd, Sprakers NY 12166.

In lieu of funeral services, and to be Covid conscious, the family will be hosting a toy drive in recognition of Mark’s life and in honor of his love of gift giving. All gifts will be donated to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department, and will be distributed to local qualifying recipients.

On Saturday, December 11, from 10am until 4pm there will be two drop off locations (chosen for being a childhood favorite, and a life-long favorite place of Mark’s). Please place new, unused, unwrapped toys onto “Grammy’s Front Porch” at 253 State Highway 80, Fort Plain, NY 13339 during the designated hours and wave to her while she watches on, safe and cozy from her window as a sign of Rest in Peace Prayers for Mark, and condolences for the family. An alternative drop off location will be at “Aunt Shell’s and Uncle Ed’s.” The Whiteman home is located at 8 School Street, Nelliston, NY 12020. Please place the toy donations on the table in the breeze way. ALL ARE WELCOME to participate. A guest book, prayer cards, and prayer candles to light will be available at both locations.

For more information and details, or to see how you can participate long-distance, please feel free to reference his sister’s Facebook page @Tara WFager.
