Obituary of Salvatore V. Boccio, Jr.
Mr. Salvatore V. Boccio, Jr., 67, of Brookside Avenue, Amsterdam died suddenly on Monday, November 29, 2021 at his home. Born in Amsterdam, NY on June 2, 1954 he was the son of the late Salvatore and Helen Gawron Boccio, Sr.
A lifelong area resident, Sal attended local schools and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. He then went on to obtain his associates degree from the State University of New York at Canton. For over 30 years, Sal was employed for New York State, retiring as a Senior Investigator with the Attorney General’s Office.
Sal was an avid golfer and was of Amsterdam Muni. He was also a member of the Bigelow Weavers and enjoyed wintering in Florida. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his three siblings, Agnes K. Restifo and her husband Joseph, John J. Boccio and his wife Deborah and Mary E. DeRose; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Service of Remembrance will take place on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 6p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY with the Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis officiating. Calling hours will be held prior to the service beginning at 4p.m. at the funeral home. Private burial will take place in the family plot at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
