We are all so saddened by the loss of such a remarkable woman. Kathy was a teacher of my children, a colleague, a strong supporter and representative of our union, an extremely intelligent individual and most importantly a wonderful friend. Please know how much we all appreciated Kathy and that our lives will be a little less full without her but that we are all better people for having known and loved her.

Kathy will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and caring. She encouraged all of her students and my son, Michael, was in her OM program at a very young age and she was extremely motivational. I am so sorry to hear about Kathy. I got to experience the many great attributes of Kathy. First in geometry class. Geometry was not her favorite, but one day she gave me a full page of abbreviations she wanted to use in writing her proofs. She was a very competitive individual whether it be basketball or track. Jim may have been the quarterback of the football team, she was the quarterback of our basketball team. On the track, she was willing to do whatever was necessary for the team to be successful. This was especially evident in the league championship when she competed in four different events. Then there was her leadership talents. After a difficult lose to Northville in basketball, on the way home on the bus she was in the back of the bus telling ghost stories to the younger players. As competitive as she was, she taught me how to move on from difficult losses. Maybe my greatest memory involved her compassionate side as after a high school graduation party, she came over to my house to help me understand that a difficult decision I had to make involving one of my players was okay. That meant a great deal to me. She was definitely an inspiration to me. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

On behalf of my daughter, Emma Dygert: Mrs Dopp will always be thought of with the sweetest of memories. Mrs. Dopp helped Emma get through some of the toughest moments last year when her beloved poppy fell sick and passed away. It was Mrs. Dopp’s loving heart that helped Emma learn to grieve and understand such big emotions. We were so saddened to hear of her passing.
