Obituary of James Manchester

James Manchester, age 81, of Gloversville, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.

He was born August 16, 1940 in Lasselsville, the son of the late Oscar "Guy" and Azubah Crannell Manchester. He served in the US Army from 1963 to 1965 and was later employed by Winig Slipper Company for over 20 years and for UPS for 29 years until his retirement. His favorite pastime was camping, which he loved to do.

Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Brooks Manchester; four children, John Dutcher (Laura), Louis Dutcher, Milajean Manchester and Rick Manchester (Jodie); 8 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two brothers, Ralph Manchester (Barbara) and Richard Manchester; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by an infant son, James Manchester; a sister, Jeanette Alkinburgh; four brothers, Guy Manchester, Robert Manchester, Roger Manchester and Dan Manchester.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 2 pm Monday, November 15, 2021 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, where a Memorial Service will follow at 2 pm. Facial masks will be required.
