Obituary of Douglas A. Ecker
Douglas A. Ecker, 49, of Johnstown passed away on October 12, 2021. Born in Amsterdam on May 15, 1972 he was the son of the late Douglas E. and Frances (Hillman) Ecker.
Survived by his loving wife whom he married on November 18, 2000 Vincenza A. Geloso-Ecker of Johnstown; and his children Vincent Ecker and Cassandra Ecker of Gloversville. He also leaves behind brothers Shawn Ecker (Janice) of Johnstown, and predeceased brother Ellery Ecker (Denise) of Johnstown, a sister Peggy Digiacomo (Nick) of Mayfield. Neices & nephews; Natasha Ecker, Katie Ecker, Crystal Newkirk (Roger), Felicia Hinkle (John), Ellery Ecker, Nicki Digiacomo, Maria (Kyle)Loux, Danielle DeMaria (Zack); Goddaughter & neice Giuliana Capparello and Godson Hayden Zelick. Mother & father in law Michele (Mike) & Lucia Geloso of Fonda, sister in law Antionette Capparello & brother-in-law John Capparello of Fonda and sister in law Michelle Geloso of Fultonville. Survived also by many cousins, aunts, uncles as well, and last but not least the family pet DaisyMay.
During his lifetime he was a graduate of Fonda-Fultonville Central High School and a member of St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church of Fonda. Douglas enjoyed working at Eaton’s Trucking of Johnstown, a family run business for most of his career. He eventually moved on to open his own business “Big Trucks Etc. a truck accessories retail store. Douglas also had a love for cooking as well and worked with his wife at her restaurant Vincenza’s Banquet House on the weekends for 25 years. His most loved recipe was Chicken Marsala and macaroni and cheese.
Douglas enjoyed hunting, and fishing adventures with his son Vincent, brothers Shawn, Ellery, nephew’s Ellery & Nicki and good friend Fran Saunders. Douglas was always the jokester at Tuesday night dinner at the in laws; where he would always try to find the funniest tik-tok videos to share with his son Vincent and goddaughter Giuliana, so they could laugh hysterically with each other. He also enjoyed Wednesday summer nights at Royal Mountain watching his Godson Hayden win many races. Douglas had a talent for wood craft and in his free time he made many beautiful pieces of furniture for family. He will be missed greatly and his love will live on in the hearts of family always and forever.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Jackson & Betz Family Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY 12072 on Tuesday November 9, 2021 from 4 pm to 7 pm. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Christopher Welch Pastor, at the convenience of the family.
