Obituary of Nellie A. Gavrilik

Nellie A. Gavrilik, 102, of Amsterdam died on Sunday, October 24, 2021.  The daughter of Anna and Alfred Wachunas, Sr., she was born and raised in Watervliet and graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy. In 1946, she married Adolf Edward Gavrilik and moved to Division Street in Amsterdam, where she lived a long, happy and healthy life. She and her family attended St. Casimir's Church.  For several years, Nellie enjoyed working as a payroll clerk for both Barlow Manufacturing Company and Ritter Chemical Company. Mostly, she loved baking, sewing, and caring for her family and her home.

Nellie was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, her sister Helen Saldun and her brother Alfred Wachunas, Jr.  She is survived by her son David Gavrilik of Albany, her daughter Joan Gavrilik of Delmar, and six nieces and their families.
