Obituary of Louisa Faiiu Slater
Louisa Faiiu Slater, 75, formerly of Third Avenue, Canajoharie, New York died suddenly on Monday, September 27, 2021 at St. Mary’s Healthcare. Born on February 15, 1946 in Apia, Western Samoa she was educated and lived in Hawaii for a brief time.
In 1974, she met the love of her life, Francis E. Slater. Together for 42 years, they had a blessed marriage and made their home on Third Avenue in Canajoharie. Sadly that union ended with his passing on August 29, 2016.
Louisa, often referred to as Weezy or Mamason, was a fixture in the Village of Canajoharie. She along with her husband were dedicated volunteers who helped many organizations and people. Louisa had a deep devotion to her Catholic faith and was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Hope Church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, and helping those in need. She will be remembered for her positive outlook on life, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her three children, Edward Slater, Joseph Slater and Cecilia Slater; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 1:30p.m. at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 115 Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. Burial will take place in St. Peter's & Paul's Cemetery, Canajoharie. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday, October 4, 2021 from 4 until 7p.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
