Obituary of George E. Savoie II
George E. Savoie II, entered eternal rest after a courageous battle with leukemia on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Roswell Park Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY. He died peacefully with his brother Jim and sister-in-law Molly by his side.
George was born on February 23, 1957 in Plattsburgh, NY to the late George E. Savoie and Mary N. McKeon Savoie. George was a 1975 graduate of Perth High School and graduated from Fulton Montgomery Community College.
George was devoted to over 20 years at NYS Thruway Authority and NYS OGS until his retirement June 2021.
George was an avid bowler and very proud of his 3 perfect game scores and receiving the rings. He was very passionate about his horseracing handicapping; golf; fantasy football league and card games with his friends. George’s favorite number was #18 subsequently that was his jersey number from little league football & baseball and throughout high school. He was a jokester and loved to joke around with his nieces and nephew. In his youth he traveled to new places with his military parents & siblings.
George was predeceased by his father George E. Savoie; his brother William (Duke) Savoie.
George is survived by his loving Mother, Mary N. McKeon Savoie of Perth, NY; daughter Kayce L. Savoie, Delanson, NY; Stepson, Alex Hopkins, Amsterdam, NY; brother James A. Savoie (Amalia) Amsterdam, NY; sister Theresa Vickers (Clifton), Perth, NY; Nieces: Kristina Savoie, Amsterdam, NY; Jaime Savoie (Philip Boibeaux), Albany, NY; Giovanna Savoie, Schenectady, NY; Michaela Savoie, Amsterdam, NY; Jacquelyn Bryant (Philip), Weymouth, Massachusetts; Nephew Nicholas Vickers (Ashley Fiacco) Perth; NY; great nephew August Bryant, Weymouth, Massachusetts. Aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
The family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Roswell Park Cancer Center especially to Dr. George Chen & his transplant team; Staff on 5th Floor North; Staff 8th ICU Unit & Pastoral Care. A special thanks to his friends Jeff Alexander; Cliff Farrell and Erny Davis who graciously donated their time to be part of George’s support team at the Kevin House.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home; where a Memorial Service will begin 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
