Obituary of Edna DeGroot

Mrs. Edna DeGroot, 86, of Gloversville, New York, died September 5, 2021 at Albany Medical Center, Albany, New York, with her family by her side.

Edna was born August 13, 1935 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, the daughter of Herve and Victoria (Berube) Roy. She married Arthur DeGroot on June 5, 1954, and together they raised two children and created a loving home over the course of 67 years.

Edna's life was spent caring for her loved ones, but despite that full time job, she managed to find some time for herself. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading historical novels, and never missed a daily crossword puzzle. She was fond of a good glass of wine, and spending time with her family and friends.

Edna is survived by her husband, Arthur  DeGroot; her two children, Victoria (Dennis) Croft and Robert (Joanne Korona) DeGroot; her three grandchildren, Matthew Croft, Heather (Anthony) Hay, and Brandon DeGroot; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters, Rita Nellis and Therese Macklin.

Relatives and friends are invited to join Edna's family from 12:00 Noon to 2:00PM on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville for a period of visitation, followed by a brief memorial service at 2:00PM.
