Obituary of Evelyn D. Podolec

Mrs. Evelyn D. Podolec, 88, of Forrest Avenue, Amsterdam, NY died peacefully on Sunday, September 5, 2021 following a brief illness.  Born in Amsterdam, NY on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Leo and Flavia Denton Myers.

A lifelong area resident, Evelyn was employed for many years as an operator with NY Telephone Company.  Her greatest joy was being with her family, and she enjoyed sewing and quilting.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Stanley Podolec Sr.; three sons, Gerald “Jerry” Podolec of Fort Hunter, NY, Kenneth Podolec of Amsterdam, NY and Steven (Dody) Podolec of Town of Providence, NY; three grandsons, Steven, Travis and Gary Podolec; and five great grandchildren, Garrett, A.J., Maddie Evelyn, Zach and Amy Evelyn.

It was Evelyn’s request that there be no formal services.  Those wishing to remember her, are invited to visit the family plot at one’s convenience this weekend at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY, Section 12, Row 1, where she will be buried.
