Obituary of Joan M. Bell

Mrs. Joan M. Bell, 84, of Leto Lane, Johnstown, NY died peacefully on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her family.  Born in Amsterdam, NY on November 3, 1936 she was the daughter of the late Donald Shaver and Helen Goodell.

A lifelong area resident, Joan was employed as a home health aide for Fulton County Nursing Service for many years. She will be remembered for being a strong, independent woman; and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was predeceased by her husband, Martin Bell; her parents, Donald Shaver and his wife Cora and Helen Goodell and her husband, Alfred.

Survivors include her two children, Wayne Bell of Fultonville, NY and Wanda Chatterton and her husband Steven of Johnstown, NY; her cherished granddaughter, Savannah Bell; and her beloved cats, Mittens and Whiskers.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 2p.m. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY with Rev. Laurie Garramone officiating.  Burial will take place in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Johnstown.  Relatives and friends are invited to call prior to the service, beginning at 12p.m. at the funeral home.
