Obituary of Sandra Motyka
Mrs. Sandra Motyka, 72, of Amsterdam, passed away on Tuesday August 17, 2021 at St. Mary's Hospital with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Amsterdam, NY on November 26, 1948, the daughter of Virginia Slater a single mother, whom passed away in 1954 when Sandra was 6 years old. Sandra was raised by her grandfather (Poppy) and her mother’s extended family.
She attended Amsterdam Schools and graduated from Broadalbin-Perth High School in 1965
Sandra was employed for various companies in Amsterdam, but spent most of her life enjoying raising her children and taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren for the past 28 years.
She married William Motyka on August 19, 1967. In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her children, Sally (Charles) Brumagim, Susan (Phil) Nowak, William (Kate) Motyka, Jennifer (Scott Walsh) Motyka and Julie Motyka-Lais.
Cherished grandchildren, Jessica Sievers, Eric Sievers, Nicole Sievers-McGee (Daniel), Jamie Nowak-Young (Jason), Ryan Motyka, Jarrett Nowak, Lindsey Foster, Cayleigh Brumagim, David Lais, Jr., Joshua Motyka, Charlize Brumagim and Jacob Motyka
Four great-granddaughters: Briana McGee, Madison McGee, Leah Young and Keegan McGee who just loved their “GG”
Nieces, Nephews and cousins also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday August 24, 2021 at 11:00AM at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, 50-52 Cornell St., Amsterdam, NY with Fr. O. Robert DeMartinis presiding. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday August 23, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
