Obituary of Doris S. Peck

Mrs. Doris Peck, 94, of Sprakers, NY passed away peacefully on the 9^th of August, 2021 at Ellis Hospital. Doris was born on the 1^st of July, 1927 to the late Glen and Ethel (Durst) Smith in Rome, NY. She attended the Rome school system, and graduated from the State University of New York at Albany with a Masters degree in education.

Her first teaching job was in Chatham, NY where she met her future husband Winford. The couple was married on the 17^th of July, 1954. Early in their marriage, they followed Winford’s job with GLF, which meant moving to several different towns. Eventually, they moved to Gloversville, NY, where Doris took jobs teaching at a handful of local school systems for five years, before the couple finally found and purchased their farm in Randall, NY. Doris taught in the Fonda-Fultonville Central School District for the next forty years, until her retirement.

Doris is predeceased by her beloved husband, Winford E. Peck Sr., as well as by her son, James Peck Sr.

She leaves behind her son, Winford E. Peck Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Carol Peck; her grandchildren, Mary Peck, James (Karlene) Peck Jr., Scott (Flavia) Peck, and Matthew (Frankie Foti) Peck; as well as great-grandchildren, Hailey, Easton, and Ella Mae.

A graveside service will be held at 11 o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 18^th of August, 2021 in Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville, NY, with James Peck Jr. presiding.
