Obituary of Betty Conte

Mrs. Betty L. Conte, age 77, a lifelong resident of Johnstown, died peacefully on July 30, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born July 12, 1944 in Gloversville, the daughter of Charles and Katherine (Rorick) Fox. Betty attended Meco and Mayfield schools, and after school, settled into work and family life. She worked for Halo Optical for many years, and spent her career in manufacturing. Betty shared over 35 years together with Richard Kucel before his passing in 2017.

When Betty wasn't at work, she spent her time gardening, tending to her flowers, and took great pride in her home. She also enjoyed camping at Caroga Lake, loved cooking meals for her loved ones, and always made it a point to spend time with family. More than anything else, Betty loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother.

Betty is survived by her children, Robin A. Kadle, Darla (Rick) L. Allen, Richard E. Jackson Jr., and David (Megan) R. Kucel; 7 grandchildren, Sarah, Nicole, Joey, Brandon, Stephen, Stacia, and Lauren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her partner Richard D. Kucel; and her siblings Chuck, Duke, Don, Clyde, Vivian, Gene, Vernon, and Kay.

Services for Betty will be private.
